In Development

A relationship that remains controversial to this day: the love between the Jewish philosopher Hannah Arendt and the thinker Martin Heidegger, who voluntarily joined the Nazi Party.
Malte Wirtz embarks on a personal quest in his hometown of Marburg and guides the audience through a story that increasingly slips out of his control as the film progresses.
How can intimacy be portrayed on film: between two people, towards history, and towards one’s own present? What begins as a director’s attempt gradually evolves into a shift in authorship: while the director tries to organize the story, the actress begins to take over the film as Hannah herself. At a time when Heidegger’s conceptual frameworks are being revisited in various political circles, Arendt’s analyses of responsibility and judgment take on new urgency in a world of multiple crises.
